Description
30 X 40 acrylic painting of a red-tailed hawk flying over a ravine, as seen from a hill above the ravine, in a part of upstate NY known as Leatherstocking Country, named after Natty Bumppo, a fictional character from James Fenimore Cooper's Leatherstocking Tales, a series of novels about pioneer America, most of which used Central NY as a backdrop: The Pioneers, The Last of the Mohicans, The Prairie, The Pathfinder, and The Deerslayer. The setting that inspired this painting is located about 15 or so miles from Cooperstown, NY, in the heart of Leatherstocking Country.
