Description
24x36. Walking south on the Chenango Canal Trail, which is basically an abandoned railroad track, a 2-mile stretch of which is maintained for walking, jogging, bicycling and horseback riding, in the Town of Kirkland, in Central NY. It starts in Kirkland and runs through Deansboro, where its name is changed to the Town of Marshall Towpath. From there it runs into Oriskany Falls, for a total length of 6 or 7 miles. It's maintained by volunteers and runs a few hundred feet to the east of the no-longer-existing Chenango Canal. The canal was built first, then the railroad track, paralleling it (and putting it out of business).
This trail cuts through a cross-section of typical Central NY mixed farmland, woodland and marsh, and is a great place to go for a nature walk (or to look for landscape paintings).
